A Message to the Nogales Bicycle Classic Community

To our cyclists, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and supporters,

After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2026 Nogales Bicycle Classic while we evaluate a sustainable path forward for the event.

For the past 13 years, the Nogales Bicycle Classic has been far more than a cycling event. It has become a tradition in Santa Cruz County—bringing together thousands of cyclists from across Arizona, the Southwest, and Mexico, along with dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, public safety agencies, local businesses, and community partners. Together, you have helped create an event that celebrates health, recreation, tourism, and the unique beauty of our border community.

Unfortunately, rising operational costs and the increasing resources required to safely host an event of this scale have made it financially unsustainable to hold the race in 2026. We believe that if we cannot deliver the experience, safety, and quality that participants have come to expect, it is better to pause than to compromise the event's standards.

This decision was not made lightly.

We are profoundly grateful to every cyclist who has registered, trained, traveled, and crossed our start and finish lines over the past 14 years. We thank our sponsors whose generosity made the event possible, the volunteers who gave countless hours of their time, the law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and public works crews who helped keep our participants safe, and the many organizations, businesses, and community members who stood beside us year after year.

Because of your support, the Nogales Bicycle Classic grew into one of Southern Arizona's premier cycling events. Together, we welcomed thousands of participants, showcased Santa Cruz County to visitors from near and far, supported local businesses, and built a tradition that we will always be proud of.

While we are saddened that we will not gather in 2026, we remain hopeful that this is not the end of the Nogales Bicycle Classic. Our hope is that, when the time is right and the resources are available, we will once again welcome cyclists back to the starting line.

Until then, please accept our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the past 13 years. The memories, friendships, and accomplishments we've shared will always be part of the Nogales Bicycle Classic legacy.
